Luri Wool Hand-Knotted Rug
Lur is the name of a tribe in southwestern Iran, with many Luri people still living as nomadic shepherds. The rugs they produce reflect their rich history and ethnicity as one of Iran's indigenous tribes. Despite facing attempts by various governments to control them, the Luri people have managed to preserve their culture and customs. Luri women, who enjoy greater freedom than women in broader Iranian society, are especially known for their vibrant and distinctive clothing. Most Luri weavers are women, contributing to the creation of these beautiful and culturally significant rugs.
