Description

Estate Planning Package

Our Estate Planning package is designed to help couples navigate what will happen if they, their partner, or both become incapacitated due to injury or illness. Together, well explore all potential scenarios and make important decisions. Once youve made your choices, our office will create six essential documentsthree for each person: a Will, a Power of Attorney (POA), and a Personal Directive (PD).

We also offer complimentary support for replacing lost documents and making necessary updates following significant life events. While many are familiar with Wills and have a decent understanding of POAs, Personal Directives often remain unclear.

In estate planning, significant challenges arise when one or both partners lose capacity. Simply being in a committed relationship doesnt grant automatic authority to make decisions on behalf of the other. Without proper documentation, one partner cannot manage banking, financial affairs, or medical decisions for the other.

For instance, if a caregiver needs to decide that an incapacitated person should move to Willow Square, they must have both the POA and PD. Without these documents, theres no legal authority to act. While its possible to obtain this authority through the courts, its a lengthy and costly process that cant be implemented quickly.
